The Ministries of Calvary Baptist church are designed to give every person and every age group an opportunity to grow in the Lord. As believers we are commanded to serve and be active in our fellowship with the Lord and the church. If all we do is come and sit in a service, then we have only touched the very surface of what God has given us in this age. Our church offers a choir ministry that meets every Sunday evening at 5:15 p.m. We have a Wednesday night Bible study for adults in which we walk through the Word of God. The first Sunday of every month we offer a lunch fellowship after the morning service for all, and then we worship in an afternoon service at 1:00 p.m. We also offer special meetings twice a year in the spring and fall such as Revival and Missions Conference.
The purpose of each ministry of the local church is centered on three relationships. The first relationship is between the believer and God. The second relationship is between believer and believer, and the last relationship is between believer and unbeliever.
Our nursery ministry gives the parents a safe environment for children ages 3 and under while the parents can concentrate on the Word of God and serve in areas of the church. Each nursery worker has been approved by the church for ministry with children. For more details on our nursery policy, please see Mrs. Cochran.
Our junior church ministry is designed to give those in grades K4-6th the opportunity to learn and grow through the ministry of the Word of God through music, object lessons, Scripture memory, and Bible lessons for their age group. Our church does not see this as a babysitting time, but a time where these children can be spiritually fed at their age level.
Wednesday Night Children’s Ministry:
Our Children’s Wednesday night Bible program is divided into two groups. K4-2nd grades are given an hour program of games, crafts, object lessons, and Bible lesson.
The other age group is 3rd-6th grades. This is designed to be an evening of Scripture memory and Bible study. Often there are snacks and some nights even Pizza! Through the summers months the kids are able to go outside for games.
Our men’s group meets every other month for a prayer breakfast on Saturdays. This is a time of prayer, fellowship, and devotion. In October, we travel to Camp Joy in Whitewater, WI for a men’s retreat. In January, we travel to Camp Chetek for a winter men’s retreat, and in the spring, we travel to the Men’s for Christ Rally.
Our ladies ministry offers two opportunities. Once a month the ladies meet for fellowship on the 4th Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. This offers a time of fellowship and encouragement along with crafts, missionary projects, and prayer.
Our Ladies ministry also meets twice a month for a Ladies Bible Study. We are currently studying Jim Berg’s book and video called “Quieting a Noisy Soul.” We meet at the church at 6:30 p.m. every other Thursday night. This is designed as a time of additional ministry through the Word of God.
The purpose of the youth ministry in the local church is for every teenager to develop a spiritual maturity through the knowledge of the Scriptures, to become dedicated to service in the church by using their gifts and abilities for God, and to desire to reach the unsaved for Jesus Christ.
Young people are a vital part of the local church. A godly youth group is a sign of a growing, godly church.
